Blue Water Announces Sponsorship of The Pass Along Project

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Blue Water Mortgage Corporation is pleased to announce its proud sponsorship of The Pass Along Project charity, which was created by one of our very own licensed mortgage brokers.

Lynette Kaichen, who has more than 12 years of experience in the mortgage industry, started the initiative in 2017 after she and her husband became licensed foster parents. When they received their first call to foster two young boys, Lynette made a quick stop at Target to pick up clothing, Pull-Ups and snacks. Later at her support group, she and her husband learned that many foster parents are burdened by the “upfront” cost of foster care while waiting for reimbursement from the state at the end of the month. According to the project, 1,600 children enter the New Hampshire foster care system each year.

Lynette decided take action, and through her dedicated efforts she created The Pass Along Project, which provides starter wardrobe “bundles” to children entering the foster care system. Community volunteers collect and redistribute gently used clothing for specific ages and genders, and each bundle consists of a week’s worth of clothing. Volunteers can also sponsor a bundle; purchase clothing; or wash, dry and fold laundry.

“Clothing is one of those things that seem trivial – until you don’t have any!” Lynette said. “My program literally gives ‘the shirt off your back’ to children in need. At a time when they’ve lost everything, we show them that they matter.”

To receive a bundle, foster parents or their state resource worker can call, text or email The Pass Along Project with the sizes and genders of the children in their care. They will receive the bundle from a volunteer, which takes away the need to worry about expenses and shopping during that important time.

Blue Water Mortgage is now one of the project’s sponsors, and in addition to providing financial support, employees will host a clothing drive and help distribute clothing.

“We are very excited to become involved in The Pass Along Project,” said Jeff Davis, founder and partner at Blue Water. “Lynette is not only an excellent employee, but also an engaged and dedicated community member, and we’re proud to support this important program.”
